Edit the properties of a PDF

Every PDF carries properties: a title, an author, a subject and keywords. They appear in the browser tab when the PDF is opened online, in your computer's file details and in search results — and they often contain something you didn't intend, like a former colleague's name or a working title such as final_v7.

Fields you leave empty are cleared in the saved file. Properties are written in a way every common viewer reads, from Adobe Acrobat to the browser's built-in viewer. If the document is going to be published online, a meaningful title often shows up as the headline in search results.

Edit Properties shows the current values and lets you change them. Give a published document a proper title, put your name as author, or add keywords so the file is easier to find. To remove all hidden information at once, including creation software and dates, use Remove Hidden Data.

The properties are changed in your browser; the file is never uploaded, and the pages themselves are not touched.

Where does the title appear?

In the browser tab or window title when the PDF is opened, and in many file managers and search engines.

How do I remove all metadata?

Use Remove Hidden Data, which also removes dates, software names and other details.

Does it change the pages?

No, only the document properties.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It's edited on your device.

Why should I set keywords?

Keywords help desktop search and document systems find the file. They don't affect how it looks.
