Add a watermark to a PDF
Watermark stamps a word or phrase across your PDF pages — CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, COPY, SAMPLE or your own name. A watermark makes clear what a document is for and discourages people from passing it on as an original.
The watermark is centred on each page and repeats on every page you choose. A low opacity — around 15 to 30 percent — keeps the content readable while the watermark stays clearly visible. Short words in capitals, such as DRAFT or COPY, are the easiest to read at an angle.
Choose the text, its colour, how see-through it is, the font size and the angle: horizontal, diagonal or the reverse diagonal. Apply it to all pages or only some. A watermark on a copy of your ID card — for example Only for the rental application, May 2026 — is a simple way to limit misuse if it ends up in the wrong hands.
The watermark is added in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. Text in any script works, including Hindi, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese.

Can someone remove the watermark?
With effort, yes — any PDF can be edited. To make it harder, flatten the file afterwards, or convert the pages to images with PDF to JPG and back.
Should I watermark copies of my ID?
It's a good habit. Write who the copy is for and the date, so it can't easily be reused elsewhere.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The watermark is added on your device.
Can I watermark only some pages?

Does it work with other alphabets?
