Many online forms — exam registrations, job portals, scholarship and visa applications — only accept documents under 100 KB. That's very small: a single scanned page from a phone is often 2–5 MB.
This page has the target already set. Add your PDF and the tool tries quality settings from best to smallest, stopping at the first version that fits under 100 KB. First it tries without touching the text; if that's not enough, the pages are redrawn as images at a lower resolution until the file fits.
For a one- or two-page certificate, mark sheet or ID, 100 KB is usually reachable while the text stays readable. Long documents may not fit: then you get the smallest possible version and a clear note, and you can split the PDF and upload the parts, or convert it to black and white first.

Why won't my PDF go under 100 KB?
Documents with many pages or detailed colour photos may simply be too large. Try Also convert to black & white, or split the document and upload only the pages that are required.
Will the text still be readable?
For one to three pages, usually yes. Zoom in on the result before uploading; if it's too blurry, ask whether the form accepts a larger file.
