Privacy Policy
ShamsPDF is built so that most of your files never reach us. This policy explains what happens to your files, what we count, and how ads and cookies work on this site.
Browser tools
Most tools (merge, split, compress, sign and more) run entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
Server tools
Some conversions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OCR and others) need our server. For these: Files are encrypted, deleted right after download, and never kept longer than 10 minutes. We never look at, share or keep copies of your files.
- Each file is encrypted with its own random key the moment it arrives; without that key the stored data is unreadable.
- It is deleted as soon as your download finishes, when you press Cancel, when you close the page (no sign of life for 60 seconds), and at the latest 10 minutes after upload.
- File names never reach our server, and nothing about your file is written to our logs.
What we count
Anonymous numbers only: which tool was used, whether it worked, how long it took, file size and country. Never file names, file contents or IP addresses. If we use website statistics (Umami), they count page views and which tool was run, without cookies and without the address's query string.
Ads
To keep the tools free, ShamsPDF may show ads. They are provided by Google AdSense, a third-party vendor.
- Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.
- You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info.
- How Google uses data from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first, through Google's certified consent message. Until you agree, ads are non-personalised and Google does not use advertising cookies to personalise them. You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link the message adds to the page.
- Ads never have access to your files: files in browser tools stay on your device, and server tools delete them as described above.
While ads are switched off, the site sets no advertising cookies at all. See the Cookie Policy for every cookie and storage item.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form or the 👍/👎 feedback, we keep what you wrote (and, for the contact form, your name and email so we can reply) for at most 180 days.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you (normally nothing, or only a message you sent) and ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page.
