Smart Arrange: scanned pages in the right order
Scanned a thick document in several batches and now the pages are all over the place? Smart Arrange looks at every page and works out the right order for you. It reads printed page numbers, page labels, chapter and invoice numbers and dates in file names, and it notices pages scanned upside down, blank backs and pages that were scanned twice.
It's built for the jobs that otherwise take an evening: a 200-page court bundle scanned in ten batches, a family's medical history from three different clinics, or old letters scanned whenever there was time. Even when it's unsure, it does most of the sorting and shows you which pages to check.
You see the suggested order as thumbnails, with a short note on why each page is where it is. Drag anything that looks wrong, then merge everything into one tidy PDF.
All of this happens in your browser. Your scans are never uploaded, which matters for medical records, tax papers and other private documents. For scans without any text, you can switch on page-number reading from the image itself; the reader runs on your device too.

Questions and answers
How does it know the right order?
It combines several clues: printed page numbers, the PDF's own page labels, numbers that continue from one file to the next, dates and numbers in file names, and pairs of front and back pages from double-sided scans. It tells you which clue it used and how confident it is.
My scans have no text. Will it still work?
Switch on Read page numbers from scans. A small reader (about 4 MB, loaded once) then reads the numbers from the page images on your device. It reads English digits and Roman numerals.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Everything, including the page-number reading, runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Can I change the order it suggests?
Yes. Drag pages to new positions, rotate them, or leave pages out. You can always go back to the suggested order.
Does it work with photos?
Smart Arrange takes PDFs. Turn photos into a PDF first with JPG to PDF or Scan to PDF, then arrange them.
Is there a page limit?
There is no fixed limit, but hundreds of large scanned pages need a lot of memory. On a phone, work in batches of a few dozen pages.
