Fill in a PDF form

Fill Forms shows the fillable fields of a PDF form right on the page, so you can type your answers, tick check boxes, choose from drop-down lists and pick dates — then save a completed copy. No printing, no handwriting, no scanning.

Choice lists and length limits from the form are respected, so you can't accidentally enter more characters than a field allows. Dates can be picked from a calendar. On a phone, fields are large enough to tap, and the page scrolls as you go.

When you're done, you can flatten the form: the answers become part of the page and can't be changed by accident or by anyone else. Leave it off if someone still needs to add their part.

The form is filled in your browser, so personal details like your address, ID number or medical history are never uploaded. If a PDF has no fillable fields, use Edit PDF to type on top of the page instead.

Questions and answers

My PDF has no fields to fill. What can I do?

Use Edit PDF to add text anywhere on the page.

What does flattening do?

It turns your answers into normal page content, so the form can no longer be edited.

Why can't I fill this government form?

Some forms are made with Adobe LiveCycle (XFA). Browsers can't fill those — open them in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Are my answers uploaded?

No. Everything is filled and saved on your device.

Can I sign the form as well?

Yes: save the filled form, then open it in Sign PDF.
